APPLE IPHONE Press Conference – IPHONE 4S

Apple held its much anticipated press conference today which was to unveil product updates in their complete technology line.  The most anticipated new technology was the introduction of the new IPHONE.  The new CEO Tim Cook detailed the financial success of Apple as a company, it’s market share, and explosive growth in other areas.  He was showing Apple as the market leader and how they have added technological advances to insure steady growth with the resigning of Steve Jobs as CEO.  It is refreshing to see Apple take control of it’s product development and finally achieve major success across their product line.  In the past they were always considered the over qualified underdog when the techology was different.  Their computers almost never crashed and were very intuitive in their operation.  Here are some of the points CEO Tim Cook touched on in his presentation:

• Apple has opened retail locations in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
• 6 million copies of the Operating System X Lion have sold, that is 80% more than the Snow Leopard.
• The MacBook Air and Imac are now the bestselling notebook and desktop models in the U.S.  That is for MAC Sales.
• The IPOD was originally launched 10 years ago, now over 300 million IPOD’s have been sold.  Apple to date has sold 45 million IPODs just between last year June 2010 and June 2011.
• Tim Cook reported that according to JD Powers and Associates that IPAD’s customer satisfaction is at 95%.  He also reported that 80% of the top hospitals use IPADs.  92% of Fortune 500 companies are now using IPAD’s in some capacity in their firms.
• 3 out of 4 tablet devices sold in the U.S.  are Apple IPAD’s.
• Apple has garnered 18 billion Apps downloaded in the past 5 years.

At this same press conference Apple executive Phil Schiller unveiled all of the new details concerning the newly introduced IPHONE 4S.  Here are some of the innovations Apple has installed within the new IPHONE:

• The IPHONE will now have a New Voice Controlled System “SIRI” for the IPHONE 4S.
• The IPHONE 4S will have a new camera and its stats are: a featured 1080p HD, an improvement from the current 720p HD on the current phone.
• There will be 16gb, 32gb and a 64gb versions of this phone.
• With the IPHONE 4S you now store your data within the APPLE  I-Cloud technology.  The user will not have to worry about local storage for their data such as: music, images, and apps.
• Executive Eddy Cue explained the I-Cloud technology in these terms:  “I-Cloud stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to all of your devices.”  and the “I-Cloud is integrated with your Apps, so everything happens automatically.”

Many were wondering why there was not the emphasis on the hardware concerning the new Apple devices today.  It really seems as thought Apple is concerned about the quality of it’s software.  Apple may in the future license it’s software to the other hardware manufacturers. The IPHONE with its improvements is still on the leading edge of technology in regards to the smartphone category.  The release date is October 14.
