Dennis Ritchie: Creator of Language C Dies

Computer Scientist Dennis Ritchie died on October 12th at the age of 70 of an undisclosed illness.  Dennis Ritchie was a co-creator of Unix (Server Operating System), but as a programmer he invented programming Language C in 1971.  He attended Harvard University and graduated with a degree in Physics in 1963.  The programming languages that are direct offsprings of  the Language C are: C++, Perl, Objective-C, Java, Java-script, C#, PHP, Unix’s C Shell.  The intertwining of Language C and Unix are at the core of modern computing although in an altered form.  The C language is commonly used for website design and is one of the most widely used programming languages today.  Even though he is not a household name, his innovative technological contribution to today’s Cloud Computing is beyond groundbreaking.  Some respect for the people behind the scenes in the tech realm.  It is often strange to me that people are most often remembered and honored for the great things they accomplish only when they die.  This is a reminder that in life period, there are many unsung innovators from all walks of life whose lives and accomplishments need to be exposed.
