VITAMIN C – right before your eyes!
In this fast paced technology driven society it can be very easy to take a vitamin instead of looking for the foods that contain them. The vitamin is fine as a supplement, but we sometimes need to take a look at what foods contain the nutrition we need to eat for survival. With the proper foods and vitamins combined we can cover more nutritional ground than just by using one or the other. What would be the use of having all of our goals, dreams and passions if we don’t step up our health even just a notch. Vitamin C is usually right before our eyes, we don’t have to look hard to find it. Vitamin C is responsible for specific functions within the body. Inside the “Nutritional Awareness Guide” by the “Legion of Light” it clearly describes the function of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and the foods that contain it. Lets learn:
“Vitamin C is essential for collagen production in the body. Helps preserve and mend the connective tissues, bones, muscles and blood vessels. Promotes healing of wounds and burns. Protects the body against infections, viruses and bacterial toxins. Maintains solid bones and teeth. Helps in decreasing blood cholesterol. A natural laxative. Used in the formation of red blood cells. Lowers incidence of blood clots in veins. Protects the brain and spinal cord from damage by free radicals (destructive molecules that can cause damage to the body). Essential in the formation of adrenalin. Helps the body in stress situations. Extends cell life.”
The above definition is something that most of us were never taught in school or anywhere else. If you look at it line by line, it is beyond profound and a necessary set of knowledge for good health, understanding and beyond. Society teaches us many things but nutrition is not really taught at all. See the foods & herbs below that contain Vitamin C. A very vital list:
Alfalfa Sprouts, Apple, Bee Pollen, Beets, Berries, Broccoli, Burdock Root (H), Cabbage, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, Celery, Cherries, Chickweed (H), Citrus Fruits, Cucumber, Garlic, Grapefruit, Greens (leafy), Kale, Kelp, Lemon, Onion, Oranges, Parsley, Peas, Persimmon, Pineapple, Potato, Rosehips (H), Spinach, Spirulina, Sprouts (All Kinds), Strawberries, Watercress, and Wheatgrass.
Note: (H) stands for Herb.
Most of these foods are available at every grocery store. Now we have an idea where to go to get the foods that contain the highest levels of Vitamin C. This can be empowering especially when you know exactly what part of your body you are strengthening by combining the foods and supplements that contain a specific Vitamin. The power of this list is in its simplicity and the widespread availability of these vegetables and fruits. Food for thought.
