It is not that hard to acknowledge  someone that has helped you and has given you some information that was instrumental in your life’s journey.  We do not get where we are by ourselves.  We are just links in a chain that started before we were born and will continue after we leave this planet.  Everyone has some kind of teacher, mentor , catalyst, or influence.  Can we pretend as though we just arrived to where we are without any outside input?  Who are the influences?  What books inspired you?  Was there a song that sparked an idea in your brain?  Was there a person that passed through your life even briefly, whose influence was so strong that it changed the direction of your life?  It is scenarios like these that can remind us that there is an influence from somewhere that we can credit for our growth.  There is a reason why everyone’s life is the way it has become.  There are even individuals who influence us, just by being consistently positive in their demeanor.  In a silent way just by radiating positive energy, we look at their presence and we are inspired.

Our major influences deserve to be recognized whether in conversation, or the written word, we can express our appreciation for what they have meant to us in life.  If  a person can influence the direction in how we have lived our lives, they are similar to the foundation stones in a building.  Without these unseen foundation stones the structure above would fall when faced with a storm or pressure.  We tend to look at the beautiful building designed by the architect, but naturally never see and recognize the foundation implanted below the surface of the building.  Sometimes the foundation of our lives is just beneath the mental and physical structure others have helped us in developing.  Giving the proper credit helps these influences live on, instead of fading into a quiet anonymous existence.
