Restore Brooklyn Annual Benefit

On October 20, 2014 I was honored to photograph the Red Carpet at the Restore Brooklyn Annual Benefit held at Lincoln Center.  I was taking pictures for New York Trend Newspaper.  At this event, the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation was honoring Rosie Perez, the Honorable William Thompson Sr., and Bruce Gordon.  Photography has become an art that I take very seriously.  In the near future I will be adding pictures I have taken to the Photo Gallery of this site.  I also learned that you have to have your camera absolutely ready.  As a photographer you have to be prepared, patient and focused on getting the best picture you can at the right moment.

Famed Director Spike Lee presented Rosie Perez with the Jacob Javits Award for Excellence in Public Service.  William Thompson Sr, Former Justice of the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court  and New York State Senator was awarded the Restoration Founders Award.  Former NAACP President Bruce Gordon was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellent Corporate Citizenship.  The Restore Brooklyn Annual Benefit!

The Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation was created almost 50 years ago by Senators Robert Kennedy and Jacob Javits.  Restoration was created to ensure that “residents of all incomes receive the economic opportunities they deserve”.  The Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation is considered the nations first community corporation thereby influencing the future creation of thousands of similar nonprofit organizations across the nation.  Others in attendance at the Restoration Benefit were: Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Grammy Award Winning Singer Chrisette Michelle and CBS anchorman Maurice Dubois to name a few.  Singer Chrisette Michelle actually sang at the benefit.  Entertainment Tonight was there to interview Rosie Perez that night as well.  It was great to learn about this corporation and it’s history.  You can see a full description of the event and more pictures taken on the Red Carpet on the New York Trend website.  Click on the following link to New York Trend Newspaper:
